WWE POLICY INTERVIEWS E MAIL ORDER INFO

- UPDATED: JUNE 24, 2010 -
- NEW PAGE!-

We have decided to add a new page to the WWELVIS site. This is very much different as it dos not offer anything for sale but just information that vinyl collectors hopefully will find very informative.
In 1992 I was invited to come to BMG New York but the beautiful and charming Bernadette Moore who was in charge of the RCA Archives. I was working on a WORLDWIDE ELVIS VINYL DISCOGRAPHY & PRICE GUIDE that now is OVER 4,000 pages and, to be totally honest with you, may never be published because there is still so much work to do and it's doubful if any publisher would pay me for the time involved to finish it!
Anyway, I spent the next six months taking the train from Baltimore to New York just about every other week to go though long forgotten RCA files on past releases. I ended up making well over 3000 photocopies of any and everything I could find and LISTING NOTICES especially were abundant and I found out all kinds of information that I think it's about time to share.
So that's what this page is about. I hope everyone enjoys it and I will be adding more and more as the weeks and months go by.

47-7122

CATALOG NUMBER 47/20-7122
VINYL TITLE SANTA CLAUS IS BACK IN TOWN / SANTA BRING MY BABY BACK TO ME
LABEL RCA
LISTING DATE 1957
COMMENTS In late 1957, RCA intended to release this special 45RPM and 78 RPM taken from the just released LOC 1035 ELVIS' CHRISTMAS LP but, at the last minute decided to withdraw it for unknown reasons. It's possible although not probable that some copies came out but no one knows for sure. This coupling was actually issued in Germany as 47-9143.

EPA-ESP4386

CATALOG NUMBER EPA-ESP4386
VINYL TITLE HEAR THE USA THE ELVIS WAY
LABEL RCA
LISTING DATE MARCH 10,1967
COMMENTS In early 1967 RCA in the U.S. sent out Listing Notices for a new upcoming extended play - HEAR THE USA THE ELVIS WAY - which was to have been issued in Canada, Mexico, and many other countries but NOT in the U.S. As we all know this never was released anywhere except for NEW ZEALAND but with the title changed to SEE THE USA THE ELVIS WAY. This was the first (and only) EP ever issued in both MONO and STEREO although only "VIVA LAS VEGAS" and "MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE" were in true STEREO while the other two "STEREO" songs were electronically reproduced. It is interesting to see from the Notice that the STEREO catalog number was supposed to be "ESP-4386" but was changed to EPAS 4386. Also note that RCA in New York released EPA 4387 EASY COME, EASY GO instead. The comparisons between EPA 4386 and EPA 4387 are obvious! Both have the exact same front cover design with only a change in picture. The back cover of EPA 4387 had the exact same b/w picture but enlarged slighly.
